Mel & Bill: "Hi!"
Band Bio
At the beginning of 2018, Mel D was hired as a theatre musician for a dance piece. Not realising that the two dancers wanted electronic music as well as vocals for their piece. She only found this out the day before rehearsals were due to start and panicked a little. Mel had absolutely no idea about working with synthesizers and drum machines. Bill, who was studying Fine Arts with the singer at the Zurich University of the Arts at the time, caught the musician on the tram home that night. She told him about the difficulties and so he spontaneously decided to help out musically with the theatre. Bill had all the electronic instruments as well as the knowledge, while Mel was able to enchant the audience with her voice and words. So the two eventually created the piece together and fell in love musically with each other from the first note. From then on it was clear to both of them that they wanted to work and create as a team and so mischgewebe was born. Yaay!
Since autumn 2019, the two have played over 80 shows all over Switzerland, recorded their first album and have written and performed music for various theatres. The winners of BandXost 2019 cover the whole range of emotions in their live shows, from energetic to trippy to tenderly melancholic – with their dark electro-pop, the duo from eastern Switzerland seduces you to dance, drift away and forget that time is passing. Their debut album VIOLET will finally be released on 7 May 2021 on the Zurich label Lauter.
